What
is Link Popularity?
Link
popularity is the term used to describe the quality of the

What
can link popularity do for my site?
-
Link popularity is king!
It use to be said that content is king for a web site. Now
credibility is king, content is only second. To build your
sites credibility, you need to improve on Popularity. For
any new web site, it is important to fight hard to build popularity.
Now, the fact that it is well known that Google gives more
points to site that are "credible" on it's algorithm,
it is becoming harder and harder to become credible.
How
does one become credible? Well all you need to do is be associated
with credible sites. Usually an easy way to know if a site
is credible is to look at its PageRank. But you have to know,
PageRank is not accurate, it is not data that you can trust
to make a fair jugement of a web site. The PageRank figures
that are shown on the Google Toolbar are very outdated and
are not the information that are used by Google to measure
a site's quality. But for now, you can look at that. You can
also look at the sites positions on search engines. If a site
is well placed on a search that is of importance to your business,
well it means that this site could be an interesting web site
to be linked to. Do not hesitate to create partnerships with
other quality sites, PageRank or no PageRank. If they are
getting the traffic that you need, why not have a link on
their page.
What
the heck is PageRank anyways?
You keep hearing PageRank this and PageRank that, well what
is it anyways.
Well
Google defines it as "a system that relies on the
uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link
structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In
essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as
a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than
the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also
analyzes the page that casts the vote". For more
